Whats old is new again.
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 11:12PM Here's a look into Disney's new 2d animated film The Princess and the Frog. For those of you who haven't been paying attention this is Disney's first 2d movie since they officially closed their 2d animation studio back in 2004 after they released Home on the range. They also handled the distribution for Miyazaki's newest 2d animated film Ponyo, which I still have yet to see. Its good to see things starting to make its way back to 2d.
And its not just movies that are getting the throw back treatment, but games too. Recent games such as Castle crashers, Splosion man, and Shadow complex are all old school 2d games at heart. While Castle crashers is the only one fully animated in 2d, but they all rely on 2d game mechanics. It just warms my heart to see things I grew up with coming back.
